Algoma University Scholarships Benefits:
Chancellor’s Award: $5,000, Renewable
An amazing chance for international high school graduates starting their college studies is the Algoma University Chancellor’s Award. This scholarship has the unique feature of being renewable and kindly grants $5,000 for each school year.
Students must enroll full-time and take at least 15 credits each term during the Fall and Winter semesters in order to be eligible. Additionally, an exceptional academic record with a minimum A+ average (or equivalent) in prior coursework is required for eligibility. There are additional language requirements that must be met by international students.
The appeal of the Chancellor’s Award endures for a maximum of three more years, given that conscientious students keep a strong yearly average of 80 percent in all subjects and take at least 12 credits every term in the Fall/Winter semester.
It is important to note that deviating from these requirements will prevent the scholarship from being awarded or renewed.
President’s Award: $2,500, Non-Renewable
A non-renewable award, the Algoma University President’s Award is intended for recent international high school graduates starting their first year of undergraduate education. The $2,500 entry scholarship is awarded. Eligible students should enroll as full-time students, taking a minimum of 12 credits per term during the Fall/Winter semesters.
International students who attended an Ontario secondary school must receive a grade in their top six Grade 12 U/M courses that they applied for admission, ranging from 80 to 89.9 percent, to be eligible for the President’s Award.
Dean’s Award: $1,000, Non-Renewable
International high school graduates starting their college studies are the target audience for the Algoma University Dean’s Award. It is given to students who enroll full-time and take at least 12 courses per term throughout the Fall and Winter semesters.
It has a $1,000 value. The Dean’s Award is contingent upon obtaining a least B+ average in prior academic records, or an equivalent grade in their home country.
Award of Excellence: $500, Non-Renewable

Eligibility Requirements:
- In order to be eligible for these scholarships, international students must, as of the first day of school, hold a temporary resident visa under Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. The secret to opening a wealth of opportunities is this visa status.
- All international students, including university transfers, second-degree students, college diploma graduates, and college transfer students, are welcome candidates for the Entrance Scholarships. The eligibility path is clear: students must fulfill their prerequisites in the academic year preceding their embarkation on the Algoma University journey.
- It’s crucial to note that international scholarships cannot be deferred under any circumstances. As you embark on your educational journey at Algoma University, embracing both the admission terms and the scholarship requirements is essential. This commitment solidifies the path to success that lies ahead, just as it was intended during its inception.
- As these scholarships demand a commitment of two semesters within an academic year (Fall/Winter), those starting their educational voyage during the Winter or Spring term can still be considered for the awards in the following academic year. The stage is set, and the spotlight shines solely on undergraduate degree programs for the Entrance Scholarships, creating a symphony of possibilities for knowledge seekers. Algoma University invites you to be part of this enriching experience where personalized education meets global opportunities.
